HANDWOVEN SHIBORI SILK SCARVES
Neal Howard’s much celebrated WOVEN SHIBORI SILK SCARVES are made primarily from 100% silk yarns that Neal hand dyes. The dyed yarn is woven into the fabric for a scarf then re-dyed, using Shibori dyeing techniques that Neal has perfected over decades. Numerous dyeing sessions result in layers of rich colors and striking patterns.
The premium quality craftsmanship of Neal's silk weaving gives these scarves an unusually soft and supple feel. Neal steam sets her dyes, and her scarves are machine washed and dried, and pressed. They drape beautifully, are lightweight, warm, travel well, and are the perfect accessory to any style of dress.
SIZE: Approximately 14 inches wide by 70 inches long - plus 2-3 inches of fringe on each end of the length.

Suitable for women and men, this scarf is made from 100% silk thrums. Thrums, strands of knotted silk yarns, are created as part of the weaving process. Neal collects her foot long thrums and re-purposes them by tying them into multi-colored five yard lengths of cordage. She twists the cordage together to create skeins of richly textured silk yarn that she over-dyes before weaving into a scarf. The regularly spaced knots and repeating color patterns create complex color variations and texture that creates a visually stunning scarf.
